A sub-brand, not an independent studio. Pragmatic Play launched it as Fat Panda in March 2025 and renamed it POP on 31 July 2026, aiming simple, high-hit-rate games at casual players (trade press). Three things a young studio has to prove
That its first games are its own. Plenty of new names are reskins of maths bought from someone else. Look at the first five releases. If they all feel like one well-known title with new art, the studio has not shown you much yet.
That its games travel. A studio with 36 languages and 178 currencies (Backseat Gaming, site, October 2026) can go into almost any lobby on day one. A studio that publishes nothing about currencies may still be fine, but you will spend a week finding out.
That you can get it cheaply. The best case is a studio already in your aggregator’s feed. The worst is a separate contract and a separate wallet integration for twenty games.
Why Nocturn Play sits third, not first
Nocturn Play does well on two of the four criteria.
